The existing water tank was built in 1967 and repainted (interior and exterior) in 1980. The upgrade project modified the existing steel water storage tank by increasing the tank sidewall height 17.45 feet to match the overflow elevation of the Water District #2 tank. Water storage volume was increased from 513,000 gallons to 882,000 gallons. Final interior restoration included near-white blast cleaning, the application of an epoxy sealant compound for pits and seam repairs to the original steel sheets, the application of a two-coat epoxy paint system, and the disinfection of the interior surfaces applicable to AWWA Standards. Also, the exterior was prepared (new steel-SSPC-SP6, existing steel-SSPC-SP7), primed along with the application of a two-coat exterior paint system.
